Here at Glow Medical and Dental Centre, our dentists of Internet city offer a range of Prosthodontic services. This includes; Crowns, Bridges and Removable Partial Dentures.
- What is a Crown? Rightly known as the ‘king’ of restorative dentistry, a crown is a type of dental restoration which completely caps or encircles a tooth or dental implant. Crowns are often needed when a large cavity threatens the ongoing health of a tooth. They are typically bonded to the tooth using a dental cement. Crowns can be made from many materials, which are usually fabricated using indirect methods. Crowns are often used to improve the strength or appearance of teeth.
- Bridges– bridges literally bridge the gap created by one or more missing teeth. A typical bridge is made up of two crowns (one on either side of the gap) and a false tooth/teeth in between. Bridges are attached to surrounding natural teeth or dental implants for support. The anchoring teeth are called abutment teeth and the false teeth are called pontics. Pontics can be made from porcelain, alloys, gold or a combination on materials.
- Removable Partial Dentures usually consist of replacement teeth attached to pink or gum-coloured plastic bases. Depending on your needs, the dentist will design a partial denture for you. A partial denture may have a metal framework and clasps that connect to your teeth, or they can have other connectors that are more natural looking.
