Lip repositioning is a minor plastic surgery procedure where the inside of the lip is attached closer to the tops of the teeth. We bring the attachment to the gum lower so that the lip doesn’t pull up as high when you smile. This also increases the fullness of the lip and makes it look more attractive.
A lip lowering or lip repositioning procedure can be done in a situation where the teeth are of normal size but the lip pulls up too high and displays an excessive amount of gum tissue, making the smile look “gummy”.
The lip repositioning procedure reduces the degree of lip retraction and minimizes exposure of gingival tissue, allowing a more “normal,” pleasing smile.

Hi Doctor Nemeth! I have a gummy smile and have tried many methods to correct it, a labial frenectomy, Botox, and more recently lip filler. Is the lip lowering procedure the best correction? I've met with a plastic surgeon, but it seemed like a very painful, invasive, and expensive procedure.

I am so insecure about my smile aswell! If I smile you wont see the gummy smile so much but if someone is telling something funny and I am laughing really hard you can totally see my gummy smile! Urgh I would totally fly out there even though I am from Germany

my lips are parted as you may be able to see in my picture. I had to work in the cold a lot felt as if my teeth broke off. I looked in the mirror and have a huge crack in enamel down my teeth. will this procedure help my lips close all the way when I'm not smiling to protect them from the elements?
