Gum Disease Treatment
There are a variety of treatments for gum disease depending on the stage of disease, how you may have responded to earlier treatments, and your overall health. Treatments range from nonsurgical therapies that control bacterial growth to surgery to restore supportive tissues.
Gum Depigmentation
The normal color of the gum tissue (gingiva) is pink, but excess deposits of melanin (melanin gingival hyperpigmentation) can create what seem to be black spots or patches on the gums, creating an aesthetic or cosmetic problem. A clinical assessment is carried out to customize the treatment to the patient’s needs, and the procedure itself can involve surgical, chemical, or laser ablation techniques.
