People suffering from excessive hair loss keep trying different hair loss treatments to prevent it. When no other treatment works, they end up getting a hair transplant. A hair transplant in Dubai is a popular hair restoration treatment. This treatment is performed using two popular techniques, i.e., Follicular Unit Transplant (FUT) and Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE). The procedure is surgical that is minimally invasive. However, the recovery period is usually short, with little to no downtime, especially in FUE. Although hair transplants are FDA-approved and safe, there can be complications as the procedure is surgical.
This article has shared some handy tips to get the best possible results from a hair transplant. So, keep reading if you are a victim of hair loss in Dubai and want to undergo a hair transplant.

Tips to Get the Best Hair Transplant Results
If you have got or planning to get a hair transplant, follow the below-given tips to achieve the best possible results.
Physical Activity & Exercise
Once a patient has undergone a hair transplant in Dubai, they should follow all the surgeon guidelines. The surgeon asks their patients to avoid excessive physical activity, at least for a while, after the transplant.
Most hair transplant surgeons ask their patients to refrain from heavy exercise for at least two weeks. This period is the most crucial for healing. The surgeon asks the patient to avoid strenuous activities for a particular period to escalate recovery.
For getting the best results, don’t indulge in any excessive physical activity. Patients must refrain from any type of exercise that leads to heavy sweating. Due to sweating, healing after a transplant gets affected and may even get delayed. So, patients shouldn’t bend down unnecessarily or climb on monkey bars. Moreover, scuba diving and swimming are also off-limits. Such activities make the blood rush towards the scalp and hinder the healing process.
Hair Wash
The most common question patients ask is about washing their hair after a hair transplant. They worry about washing their hair too early. No doubt, it seems a bit tricky at first to wash the hair, but it is not impossible.
According to hair transplant surgeons, patients can wash their hair within 48 hours of a transplant. Some patients want to wait for one more day before they wash their hair, and that’s fine.
When washing the hair the first time after the transplant, patients must be cautious. They shouldn’t apply shampoo directly to the scalp. Instead, shampoo must be put into a cup of water, and its lather must be used to wash the hair. The mixture must be rinsed with water from the cup. This routine must be followed for at least a week after the transplant. Once the week is over, you can start handling your hair as before.
Covering the Head
Patients shouldn’t cover their head with a hat or a scarf for at least 3 days after a hair transplant. The newly transplanted hair needs some time to become strong enough to hold their place. So, most hair transplant surgeons recommend that for 5 days, patients shouldn’t cover their heads with anything. After 5 days, they are free to cover their head with loose- and tight-fitting hats. It is because, after 5 days, the transplanted hair would have taken roots in the scalp. It means they will need to be surgically removed and will not fall out on their own.
The transplanted hair can fall out if they are covered immediately after a transplant. So, it’s better to keep the hair uncovered for at least 3-5 days.
Treating Side Effects
A hair transplant in Dubai is categorized as a safe and secure treatment by the FDA. However, since it is a surgical procedure, it has some potential side effects. It is advised to treat the minimal side-effects as soon as they appear. Otherwise, they can become problematic. Also, it is not mandatory for everyone to experience any side effects. Some people don’t show any signs of complications and have a smooth recovery period.
One of the most common side effects of hair transplants is swelling. Swelling subsides within the first week after the treatment. Another common side effect is itching. However, it is strictly prohibited to scratch the scalp after a transplant; otherwise, the scabs won’t form properly. Moreover, itchiness can be controlled a little by applying conditioner at the itching site.
Some side effects may occur if the scalp is exposed to direct sunlight. So, try to remain out of the sun for at least a week after the procedure. You should always cover your head when going outside.
Lifestyle Changes
Just like we make some lifestyle changes before major surgery, we have to change some habits before/after a hair transplant.
If you dye your hair, do it before a transplant. You cannot dye your hair for at least 4 weeks after the treatment. The reason is the harsh chemicals used in dyes. These chemicals can negatively impact the newly transplanted hair.
After a hair transplant, patients must avoid smoking for at least a month. Smoking is harmful to our health, so it’s better to quit it altogether. But, if you cannot do it, at least don’t smoke for 4 weeks. Smoking can affect our blood flow and hinder hair growth. So, avoid it at all costs for at least 3 weeks.
On the other hand, if you are a drinker, you have to wait for 5 days before you can have any alcoholic beverages. Alcohol can also interfere with blood flow. Therefore, it must be avoided, too.
